CSI Kanyakumari Diocese celebrated World Sunday School DayChurch of South India (CSI), Kanyakumari Diocese celebrated World Sunday School Day on Sunday. On the morning service, the Sunday School Children and teachers were presented the sermon and worships at all churches. Totally 277 congregations in Kanyakumari Diocese, celebrated the World Sunday School at 40 places including Devicode District Church.

World Sunday School Day

Every year first Sunday of November celebrated as World Sunday School Day. The Sunday School was founded by Robert Raikes who was an editor of the Gloucester Journal, published an article in his Journal named Sunday School, in England at Sooty Alley in the year of 1780.

Devicode District Church celebrated World Sunday School day on Sunday at its main church. First of all, the rally was commenced at Kuttiparavilai and marched through the streets of Pichavilai, Idaikodu and Devicode Junction. The Sunday school children, teachers and their parents walked behind a banner promoting World Sunday School Day and the slogan, "Bring Every Child to Jesus." They waved flags and posters with Bible Verses, sung Christian songs and chanted slogans as they walked from Kuttiparavilai to Devicode. About 1,000 children and adults participated in the rally.

After the rally, participants had a worship meeting under the presidentship of Rev.N.Raj Kumar, District Minister of Devicode District Church. Mr.Benjamin Robert Raj, Secretary of the Sunday School, Devicode District Church and Diocesan Council Member, Church of South India, Kanyakumari Diocese welcomed the gathering. Every church presented entertainment, such as song, dance or skit at the meeting. On the occasion, Rev.S.David Joseph Raj, B.A., B.D., M.Th gave a sermon based on Mark 10:14, explained about the Sunday school foundation and its importance. He also advised parents to grow their children with God.

Finally, Rev.N.Raj Kumar gave away the shields and prizes to the winners of Sunday school students of Devicode District Church and its branch churches. Totally about 90 prizes were presented. Over all shield presented to Devicode District Church which was received by Mr.Benjamin Robert Raj. The rally was planned and supervised by the Mr.Benjamin Robert Raj. The Pastorate Churches Parakanvilai, Kadamankuzhi and Theruvukadai and branch Churches Potteti, Ebenazapuram, Koodavilai, Visuvasa Nagar and Zionparai were also participated in the rally.

Rev.Beno A Enose, Asst Pastor of Devicode Church, Church Secretary Mr.Solomon Paul, Church Deacons Mr.David, Mr.Bence, Mr.Vino, Mr.Jacob, branch church pastors and church leaders were participated in the function.
