SkillTree Knowledge Group selects ADBU as education evangelist 2014Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) has been selected as the Skilltree Education Evangelist 2014 from northeast India and will be featured in a television program on Times NOW channel, starting Saturday January 24, 2015. “Education evangelists are the visionaries and change makers who have contributed and have been contributing towards the growth of Indian education system both quantitatively and qualitatively,” says Founder & CEO, SkillTree Knowledge Consortium Mr Shekhar A. Bhattacharjee.
Mr Bhattacharjee adds, “The Education Evangelist of India 2014 television episodes will showcase 20 outstanding educationists, recognize them for their contribution to higher education, cover them extensively by way of pan India media coverage, and confer upon them the coveted honorary title of ‘Education Evangelist of the Year’.”
“We are focused on the students. That’s our primary target. And these students when they go out, they are sure to make a difference,” says ADBU Vice Chancellor Dr Stephen Mavely highlighting his vision for the university. ``The university is a centre for culture, knowledge, research, Intellectual ferment... for critical thinking and analysis of whatever shapes and impacts human life... that influences thinking, planning, and policy making on vital aspects of social life... THAT is our role.`
The 2nd Edition of SkillTree Education Evangelist of India is a 5 episode series, where 20 colleges / universities will be represented from all over India. The television series starts from January 24, 2015 and continues till February 28, 2015. The SkillTree initiative first came up in 2013 as a television series in media association with Economic Times Now which conferred SkillTree Education Evangelist of India title along with Karmaveer Chakra instituted by the UN.
ADBU established in 2008 by Guwahati Salesian province is the first privately run Catholic University in India. Currently, it has three schools (Technology, Social Sciences and Management) spread out on four campuses in Guwahati (Azara, Kharguli, Maligaon and Tapesia) with some 2,000 students enrolled in 17 departments. Its online education program “DBU Global” is offered in 128 countries and caters to over 5000 students; and it`s free online courses cater to another 5000 students worldwide.
The Education Evangelist of India convocation ceremony attended by industry and academia leaders is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on February 10, 2015. Besides, the launch of a coffee table book, featured leaders will be felicitated with the trophy and title of ‘Evangelist of the Year’
