WCC Executive Committee convenes at Bossey Ecumenical InstituteThe Executive Committee of World Council of Churches (WCC) is convening at the Ecumenical Institute in Bossey from 22-28 May. Main points on the agenda are preparations for the WCC 11th Assembly to be held in Karlsruhe, Germany in 2021. The committee is expected to approve a communication strategy for the assembly, which has already adopted the theme “Christ's love moves the world to reconciliation and unity.”

The Executive Committee will also discuss a plan for the WCC’s work on a Just Community of Women and Men, as well as plans for the Central Committee meeting in 2020. Committee members will observe Thursdays in Black on 23 May, in solidarity with the global WCC campaign for a world free from rape and violence. They will also participate in a memorial service on 24th May, to celebrate the lives of Rev. Robina Winbush and Rev. Norman Tendis, both of whom passed away in 2019.
The Executive Committee will discuss ongoing processes and decisions related to the Green Village, the new development concept for the property on which the Ecumenical Centre now stands. The Green Village will include a renovated Ecumenical Centre; new office space for commercial and civil society organizations, including the WCC, its sister organizations and tenants; and residential space. During the meeting, a presentation will be made by Implenia, the construction and development company for the Green Village.
The Executive Committee, which meets twice a year, carries out essential business for the WCC; provides direction to the general secretary on work and developments while deepening common understanding on specific issues; shares experiences and developments from the churches in the different regions; and continues growing in the consensus experience, both in terms of the spirit of the meeting and relationships, as well as in decision-making.
