Christmas celebration in KanyakumariThe Christmas celebration all over the World are going on very well. But how about the celebrations at the India's Southernmost district of Kanyakumari?. Few years from now, the people of Kanyakumari celebrate the festival by setting-up Christmas Crib, Christmas Trees and Christmas Stars in their Churches, Streets, homes, works spots, etc. Celebrations has improved every year. Have a look on ten years back? Only make small cribs in their houses. Now, take a look!.
There are giant cribs at most of the churches, streets and houses, glittering lights in the streets and Christmas carols with Santa Claus as well. Initially the celebrations begin in first week of December. People of Kanyakumari return to home to celebrate the grant Christmas from work places. Renovating their houses, buying new clothes, giving gifts to their friends and relatives. In the last week of December, we can see crowds among various places in this district. It seems the celebration has improved year by year.
There are big Christmas cribs at Karungal, Marthandam, Palapallam, Devicode, Palliyadi, Azhagiamandapam, Kulasekaram, Chunkankadai, Thuckalay, Mulachal, Aathivilai Viricode, and many of them as well.
“We celebrate Christmas today, the result of the work of setting up cribs, lighting arrangements since it began in November. The cribs are set up with the planning, which would result in the viewer 's mind to wonder designed and all the crib have been developed in various designs”, said Stephen Jose, local designer who belongs to Nagercoil.
The Bishop of Kottar Diocese, Peter Remigius, conducted a special mass at St.Xavier’s Church in Kottar. The Church of South India’s Moderator, Devakadatchiyam, organised a special mass at Kalkovil at Nagercoil on Tuesday midnight. Special masses also conducted at all the Churches in the district. The district administration has declared a local holiday on Tuesday.
Union Minister for Shipping G.K.Vasan visited Kanyakumari on Monday and participated in the 16th Christmas function organised by Christian Associations at Arumanai.
