EFI honours Chief Minister of Mizoram Lal Thanhawla for mission works

The Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFI) has conferred a Lifetime Achievement Award on Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla in recognition of his dedication to the service of Christian mission works on November 07, 2014. The Chief Minister graced the function of Church leaders of North East India ‘North East India Congress on Church in Mission’ (NEICOCIM) at the Council of Baptist Churches in North East India (CBCNEI) Office at Guwahati. At the conclave, he was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Earlier in 2009, he was awarded Mother Teresa Lifetime Achievement Award.

Pope Francis Demotes Conservative Cardinal Raymond Burke

After six years serving as Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, Cardinal Raymond Burke was replaced by Archbishop Dominique Mamberti as new Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura and Cardinal Raymond Burke who was the Vatican's highest ranking American has been appointed as Patron of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. The replacement was made by the Holy Father, Pope Francis.

Christians in India reconvert to Hinduism with threats

About 310 Christians were reportedly reconverted to Hinduism in the district of Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh State in India by Hindu extremists according to reports from the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC). The GCIC told AsiaNews that the incident occurred on October 26, 2014 and has become a trend among Christian regions in Uttar Pradesh. They reported that the Hindu groups have termed this ritual “returning home,” and this has been the third case in less than two months.

Pakistan arrests at least 43 suspects over blasphemy killings

Pakistani police arrested at least 43 suspects on Wednesday in connection with the murder of a Pakistani Christian couple by a Muslim mob for allegedly desecrating the Koran in Pakistan on Tuesday. The couple were beaten to death by hundreds of locals who then burned their bodies in the brick kiln where they worked in Punjab province. The detainees were residents of Kot Rasha Kishan town in Punjab province where the couple was killed.
