UCFHR launches a National Toll-Free Helpline number
In a first of its kind initiative by any religious minority group in India, Christians’ group, “following rise in targeted communal violence especially in the Capital” have launched a national helpline number to help victims of violence for their community members. This toll free National Helpline number is equipped with legal support system. Only victims of violence, intimidation, coercion and illegal confinement by criminal or political group may call and seek legal and advocacy assistance, says Mr A C Michael, former Member of Delhi Minority Commission.
United Christian Forum for Human Rights (UCFHR)
The United Christian Forum for Human Rights (UCFHR) which is an inter-denominational Christian organization in India that fights for the human rights of members of the Christian minority, mainly through protest, officially launched a 24-hour national helpline number 1800-208-4545 and will have lawyers and experts to assist victims of violence, intimidation, coercion and illegal confinement by any criminal or political group. The helpline will be free of charge.
Dr. John Dayal, Spokesperson for the Forum, said: “This is an unprecedented coming together of all major denominational and non-denominational Christian groups, following the rise in targeted communal violence.”
