Rev Martin Borgai consecrates as Bishop of CSI Karnataka Northern DioceseRev Martin C. Borgia consecrated as 6th Bishop of Karnataka Northern Diocese in Church of South India. The Consecration ceremony led by the Most Rev. A. Dharmaraj Rasalam, the Moderator of the Church of South India in the presence of the Rt Rev. Dr K. Reuben Mark, the Deputy Moderator of CSI at Holy Name Cathedral, Hubli, Karnataka on Sunday, the 19th December 2021. Adv. C. Fernandas Rathina Raja, the General Secretary of CSI, Prof. Dr B. Vimal Sukumar, Honorary Treasurer of CSI, Bishops in CSI, officers of the Diocese, Presbyters, Missionaries, Evangelists, Sisters, Synod members and Laypeople were present.

Rt Rev Ravikumar J. Niranjan, the 5th Bishop of Karnataka Northern Diocese of the Church of South India who was retired during September. Thereafter, an election was held for electing the new Bishop at Karnataka Northern Diocese. Rev. Martin Borgia, Rev. Paul Shinde, Rev. Raju Mydakoppa and Rev. Babiraja were elected. After this, as per the regulations of the Church of South India in Chennai the officers completed the procedure of selection. Rev. Martin C. Borgai was served as the presbyter In-Charge of the CSI All Saints Church, Dharwad in the Karnataka Northern Diocese has been selected as the new Bishop of the Karnataka Northern Diocese of the Church of South India (CSI).
He was born on 10th September 1960 at Dharwad, ordained as a Deacon in 2008 and as a Presbyter in 2009. He did his Regular and In House Theological Education, Degree of Practical Theology and Leadership from Christ for the Nations Institute, Dallas Texas, USA from 2002-2004. He is having a rich pastoral experience and worked in several pastorates of the CSI Karnataka Northern Diocese such as Hubli, Belagaum, Ganesh gudi, Dandeli, Dharwad and so on. He continued his ministerial and missional focus on strengthening the congregations and building new Churches and institutions.
He held various responsibilities in the Diocese. He was the convener for the Gender Equity Enabling Time Table (GEET), Convener of the Mission & Evangelism Committee from 2015 to present. Vice-Chairman of the North Karnataka Anglican Area Council from 2020 to present. He is a prolific revival guest preacher recognized in India and overseas. Before he entered into the ministry, he had wider exposure in the Aviation field. He worked for the Air India Limited, Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company, Ameri Flights, Qatar, Boeing Series and Airbus Series as Grade III Technician.
His wife Mrs Prema M Borgai worked at British Council as a Librarian, Quatar. She is a great source of strength to Rev. Martin C. Borgai and she actively engaged in the Women’s Ministry of various pastorates and started many Prayer-cell groups, fasting prayers and nurtured women in the spiritual aspects. The couple is blessed with 3 children: Mr Roger working in Dubai as Engineer, Mr David working in Doha as Engineer and Miss Deborah perusing her Medical Studies. His father Mr. Charles Bhaskarappa Borgai served in the Indian Railway and mother Mrs Saroja Charles Borgai is a house wife.
